Mount Krampus: Odds and Ends

Friday, December 19, 2014 by spiralspy

In essence, Mt. Krampus is a two level arena. After every fight, you may choose between looting the shelter and going home or risking everything and continuing on. There are 5 shelters in total and each contains a larger amount of Grinchlin boxes than the previous one.

The general rules for Grinchlin boxes are:

  • Will always contain either heat or money (but not both) at a 50:50 ratio.
  • There is a 42% chance for one additional item (material or snowball).
  • Only one box in the last shelter may also contain rings if you play on at least advanced difficulty. Playing on elite doesn’t improve your chances (but naturally your remaining loot will be better).
  • Silver and gold rings drop equally likely, but only about 2 in 100 boxes contain them. This is independent of the other loot. Rings do not substitute for money, heat, snowballs or materials.

The tables below give the distribution of winterfest loot per 100 boxes (that contain it). Multiply the numbers by 0.42 to get the actual chances per box.
